Question ID: 478291
I'm looking for the following, and don't have time to do all the
research myself. I am trying to learn Spanish and would like services
and price quotes for the following:
(1) A native spanish speaker from (Spain/Argentina/Chile/Or other
SOUTH American country) to digitally record the reading of short
stories in Spanish.
(2) Specifically, the books to be recorded are: Spanish Short
Stories 2 (Penguin Parallel Text)
and Spanish Short Stores 1
(http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0140025006/ref=pd_sr_ec_cs_b/103-2384699-1375034?v=glance&s=books&st=*)
(3) I would like per-book price quotes
(4) I will provide the books
(5) Recordings should be complete, clear, and digital -- in MP3 format
to be emailed
(6) I have seen online services which provide translation services;
however, I would like to receive quotes on the exact request, rather
than merely being referred to them.
(7) This is for individual private, non-commercial use

A price quote from a qualified private individual (for example, a
Spanish Professor from a University) would be acceptable as well.

To disambiguate and/or clarify:
Point 1 should read: ...from one of the following non-empty disjoint
sets of countries {Spain} {Argentina/Chile/Or other
South American country}

This question is to find someone to provide the services (with a
quote), not to actually provide the services.

Hi there,

I have quotes from two different sources, each at a different qualification level.
When I requested a quote, I was informed that they would charge an
hourly rate, so the total amount charged per book would depend on how
fast you would like the book to be read (ie whether a normal
conversation pace is enough or whether you would like it to be slower
for learning purposes).

Having that said, it appears that it takes about 2 minutes per page to
read a single page at a moderately slow pace, so I will provide the
quotes below on per hour and per page rate (assuming 2 min/page rate).

University Professor - $60/hour, $2 / page

Native speaker and teaching assistant at university level - $30 / hour, $1 / page

For both: fixed price of $10 dollars for creating the mp3 and uploading it.

If you would like a per book quote, simply adjust the per page rate by
the new reading speed and multiply the rate by the number of pages you
would like read in the book.

If you would like to get in touch with either of these sources, or
would like clarification on any part of the answer, please let me know
and I'd be happy to further assist you.

Cheers,
Tox-ga

thanks, this will work very well. I'd like to use the native
speaker/teaching assist. for the first book. I can mail the book and
estimated payment based on $1/page + mp3 fee right away. Should I
mark this question as closed first and then you can post the address,
or... what is the next step?

Hi there,

For the purposes of anonymity, I will let the translator know of your
interest and he will create a public mail account. After that, I'll
post the e-mail address here and from there, the two of you can
communicate directly and arrange the payment/shipment privately.
Since it is currently reading week for many universities, including
the one this particula person works for, I will have the
response/email address posted on Monday.

Cheers,
Tox-ga

Hi -

I have just found out that the speaker is a native of Mexico. I
already have resources from Mexico, which is why I tried to make
explicit that the speaker be a native of a South American country (not
a Latin American country), such as Argentina, Chile, or as an
alternative, a speaker from Spain. Can you find a resource from a
South American country? That would be a spanish speaking country that
is in the southern hemisphere.

Hi there,

From your clarification of the question, I was under the impression
that quotes from qualified teaching individuals were acceptable as
well.
Please let me know if this isn't the case and I will continue the search.

Cheers,
Tox-ga
