I keep hearing about these blogs like they are the most popular thing
since lower back tattoo's. What I don't understand is how you find one
that interests you and how the heck are they indexed?

Hi gard0196,

There isn't any one place that indexes all the blogs of the world.
However, there are a variety of ways to find blogs that might interest
you.

I have found most of the blogs I have bookmarked just by web surfing.
If you search for a topic of interest in a web directory or search
engine, you may run into blog pages, which can lead you to generally
interesting blogs.

The Google Directory has a page of blog directories.

Ari Paparo's blog has a list of blog search engines. There is quite a
bit of overlap with the Google Directory list.

I tested some of them for this answer, and did not find them very
productive. The search engines did not seem to be good at
distinguishing the weblogs that just used the keyword from those where
the blogger was really interested in the topic.

If you like Top Ten lists, there are sites that list the hottest blogs
of the moment.

Technorati has the top 100 blogs ranked by the number of links to them.
http://www.technorati.com/live/top100.html

Blogdex lists the "fastest spreading ideas."
http://www.blogdex.net/

And of course, many bloggers link extensively to other bloggers, so an
interesting person may well introduce you to other interesting people.

I hope these links help you find something interesting in the blogosphere.

Regards,
