Why would a kidney infection or UTI give you a false positive test for
methamphetamines? Is this just a myth or is there any facts to this?

It's not a myth. Kidney or urinary tract infections can indeed cause
false positive results in drug tests for methamphetamine. Kidney and
bladder ailments, liver disease, and diabetes can produce false
results because of metabolites produced by the body and excreted in
the urine which can be misidentified as products of drug use. Drug
testing is an alarmingly inexact science. A person who has had a false
positive of this type may want to request hair testing, rather than
urine testing.

Health Tech: False Positives
http://www.testnegative.com/drug-testing-info/drug_false_positives.htm

"Approximately 30-50% of all positive results are false-positives,
meaning that the test found the presence of illicit drugs even though
none were taken... If you are mistakenly found positive for drug use,
evaluate whether you have taken any substances known to cause
false-positives. Also, remember that liver problems, kidney problems,
or diabetes may cause a false-positive for amphetamines, opiates, or
cocaine."

Thanks I work for the State and according to the MRO he can only order
additional test. The company is under a lot of investigation of
something I discovered and instead of spending the time to find the
actual tamperer I feel like they would go to any extreme to keep this
test as is. Are you saying I have rights that I can have my hair
tested independently with a independent agency? I know you can't
commnet about Employer protocol due to not knowing but would you know
if this is the time to involve a third party{(lawyer). I am 100%
innocence of not using any sort of amphetamine and am willing to do
what ever it takes to prove this. I am on Provigil 200 and I am aware
of it being a possible reason. But I ran onto sumething in my
research about kidney and liver infections that I am currentlly being
treated almost every week since Xmas and all documented with my
Doctor. I just didn't know if this was just a myth on the internet.
Thanks and I will get back qith you with a thanks you according to the
process of google (tip) If this is definetely the answer i have been
looking for.

Regarding your legal rights to additional testing, I recommend that
you consult an attorney. Laws vary from place to place, and
contractual arrangements between employers and employees make this a
complicated matter. The fact that you work for the state sometimes
means that you have some rights that other employees do not have, but
you lack some rights that others do have (I worked for a state
government agency for a decade, so I've been there and done that!)

I wish you the best of luck in this. It may feel like an uphill
battle, but it is one that is worth waging, and worth winning.

Thanks I still cant figure this problem out. I have seeked legal
advice but I am taking a lot a risk to prove my point. I will be
battling the State and everyone but I have decided to appeal my
termination and need anything valuable to help in proving that MRO can
make mistakes. I feel like I will have bare my recent medical
problems such as kidney problems and other possible illness and I fee
like that denying me in the 4 th ammendment. It would be great if you
have any more additional anwers.
Thanks

I am truly sorry to hear about the ordeal you've been through. If I
come across any information that I think might be helpful, I'll post
it here for you. It is difficult to do much over the Internet, but my
heart is with you.
