I'm helping my son find an Emergency Medical Technician training program. It would have to be an accelerated course held between May 9 and June 10. It should be in the Philadelphia region, within 15-20 miles of Merion Station, PA 19066. I did some introductory research. I called the local Narberth Ambulance Co. They diredcted me to this site: http://www.montcopa.org/eoc/MCEMS/Training_Institute/EMSTI_Home.htm The shortest course they have is June-Aug. The Southeastern Chapter of the Red Cross does not offer a course, neither does the Community College of Philadelphia. My local fire house, Union Fire Station, suggested I call Narberth Ambulance. So I've gone full circle and I need help. |

I know from being certified in New Jersey, that there are a minimum of 120 hours needed for training by the state, not including practical experience time (mandatory emergency room volunteer hours, etc.), as well as coordinated simulations with Police/Fire (one weekend, we did a disaster simulation with police academy students, as well as fire academy students all cooperatively working on an overturned bus extraction and treatment of very convincing "injured" Boy Scouts -- that in itself was a 6-8 hour training session). It would be very hard to find a program which would squeeze this amount of training into just over one month. Good luck though, and glad to hear your son is trying to get certified! skermit-ga |
