Who has developed the "balanced scorecard" methodology for sports
teams and what are the various components measured? or - help me
develop a bal. scorecard for Athletics....My interest (as a Director
of Athletics at a major university) is in high level university
athletic teams but perhaps professional models (sport teams) could be
used as a starting point.
...A Balanced Scorecard (BSC) provides a framework for defining,
implementing and sustaining organizational strategy at all levels and
throughout the organization by linking that strategy to the
performance measurement system. A BSC provides a "dashboard" view of
overall performance through successful monitoring and control of key
performance indicators that have proven to be useful in driving and
sustaining organizational performance in "best practice"
organizations. A BSC provides for greater focus upon customer
satisfaction and needs, organizational learning / growth / innovation,
and optimum performance of internal business processes (each of which
are more often outcome in nature, focusing on effectiveness). A BSC
also provides de-emphasis on financial measures (which are typically
output in nature and which focus on efficiency). [also see
