For a nonfiction novel, I need to know why upper-middle class young Jews in Poland and Rumania were attracted to Paris in the 1920s and 1930s, what their lives were like in Poland and Rumania, what it was like for them to live in Paris, were they accepted by local French society, were they rejected for French citizenship, what was their social, economic and cultural life, why did they elect to stay and not return home even though they were well off? Which section of Paris did most of them live in? |
