I am starting an all-natural skin care line of products. I need to
verify the ingredients. This will allow me to label my products,
advertise the ingredients, and patent the formula. I need proof that
what I say is in the products is in the products. I have googled labs,
clinical studies, university science departments, gas chromatic
graphs, USDA, etc. The USDA emailed back with an, "I don't know...good
luck" response.
Who does this type of certification work in the U.S. for start-up
small business owners? I am located in Florida.

deronda-ga,

I'm not sure I get your question. Are you the manufacturer of the
products? If so, you already know what ingredients are in them, I
would think.

If someone else supplies the products to you, then they are in the
best position to identify the ingredients.

Your question says you need "proof" of some kind. Why? Proof of
what, and for what reason?

What am I missing?

I am the developer and manufacturer. I approached QVC to sell the
products through their network, and they want a certification that
what I say is in the products is really in the products. For legal
reasons they cannot take my word on the matter as such. However, they
gave no information as to how I get this certification. I know
natural/herbs need no certification and neither do cosmetics. However,
they want the ingredients certified. Nobody else has asked for
anything like this. I hope this helps you.

Thanks for the clarification.

I strongly suggest you give one or more of these cosmetic industry
consultants a call:

There are none listed right in Florida, I'm afraid, although some of
the larger firms may have operations nearby.

It seems to me they should certainly have the capacity to certify your
ingredients, as well as familiarity with the types of protocol used in
the industry for someone in your situation.

Let me know if this sort of information meets your needs. And if it
does not, please let me know what other type of information would
better suit you.

Thanks,
