Hello there,
I believe I've found what you seek, in terms of a zip code atlas with
notebook dimensions and county boundaries. There are not any maps that
meet your requirements available online to download and print.
FAQ (NationalAtlas.gov)
http://www.nationalatlas.gov/faq.html#Zipcode
However, Universal Map Enterprises published the "Zip Code Data Atlas"
in 1997 as part of their "Rush Hour Business Reference" series. The
lowest price to order online is through Amazon.com:
"Zip Code Data Atlas 1997" (Universal Map, 1997)
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0762502525/
More information is available at the following sites:
"The Rush HourŪ Zip Code Data Atlas highlights three-digit zip code
areas for all fifty states. Additional information includes: County
boundaries, Cities marked by population, Demographic information
including Black, Gray and Hispanic markets and Income and retail sales
listings."
"Note from Bob: The spiral binding allows the atlas to lay flat or can
be folded over. This makes the atlas easy to use in cramped spaces.
The covers are very thick and durable. The businessman's friend."
"Universal Zip Code Data Atlas for business control" (The Map Store of
Minnesota)
http://www.freemap.com/WallMaps/business/UnivBusinessZipCodeAtlas.htm
"Universal Map's ZIP Code Data Atlas contains up to date maps and data
for every state and Puerto Rico. This Atlas features income and retail
sales listings, as well as category ranking tables. Each map is
accompanied by an index for quick and easy use. Atlas dimensions are
8.5 x 11 inches."
"USA ZIP Code Data Atlas" (The Map & Travel Store at Maps.com)

If 1997 is too out-dated for your needs, the American Map Corporation
is set to publish the "United States Zip Code Atlas" in November 2002.
You can pre-order from Amazon.com (the 2000 version is currently out
of print). This book also has notebook dimensions and county
boundaries.

If you need something more than these published map sets, or if you
need a five-digit zip code map, you can order a custom map. "Our
custom mapping department can produce custom zip code maps for any
area in the united states. Maps can be created by state, by region, by
metopolitan area or even by multi-state configurations."
"Custom Zip Code Maps" (A World of Maps, Inc.)

Search strategy:

I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to ask for clarification if
you need more assistance.

Hello,
I have found zip code maps for all of the New York counties you need.
The purpose of these maps is quite sobering, however, as they map
occurences of different kinds of cancer in color-coded zip code
boundaries. I have not seen anything else that comes close (for free).
I will list them here and you can decide whether this is satisfactory
for your needs. They are all in PDF format, which will print onto a
standard 8.5"x11" sheet.

of Health)

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to see these files. You can
download Acrobat Reader here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html
When you click on any link below, you will see a list of buttons under
"County Maps by ZIP Code." Choose any from the list to see/download
the PDF file.

I could not find any maps for New Jersey or Conneticut, except this
one with county and zip code boundaries for IEEE Membership in the
Southern New Jersey region.

Another free option would be to use the US Census Bureau "Cartographic
Boundary Files," which can be downloaded and read by an ARC map viewer
(one is listed below). You add zip code and county layers to the
software, and you can make your own custom maps. I downloaded
everything and tried it out - took less than 20 minutes to have New
York state's zip code and county boundaries (not just points, like
TIGER) displayed and printed. All states are represented. More
information and instructions can be found here:

To make your own custom maps, you could try commercial mapping
software.

I apologize for misunderstanding your question in the beginning. I
hope this additional information is of use to you.
Best of luck!
