I heard this poem recited on CBC radio one the week of Valentines in
the year 2000, I think. I'm almost certain the title is the one I
wrote in the subject line. It's a love poem that uses the appearance
or habits of different types of birds to describe the poet's feelings
towards love or the beloved. One particular image that I can recall
is the description of a swan's neck as the "... invitation of half a
heart..." or something close to that.

I've searched the CBC radio site and written emails to some of their
hosts, and I can't seem to find it with google. CBC tends to feature
local or new Canadian artists, so I suspect the poet is Canadian.
Thanks in advance for your efforts.

It is very likely that I heard it on a morning program called "This
Morning" hosted by Shelagh Rogers which was discontinued by CBC in
2002

Oops, wrong timeline. It was a poet featured at that year's Vancouver
International Writer's Festival. The broadcast was of a featured
poet. So this would be during the festival week in Vancouver in
something like the year 2000, though it may have been 1999 or 2001.

Ok, I've ruled out 2001 and 1999, and I've been through CBC radio's
show logs for "This Morning" during the writers's fest dates in 2000,
it's not in there.

So, the recitation was during a morning show that was not "This
Morning" on CBC Radio One between the dates of Oct 18-22, 2000. And
the poet was featured at the VIWF which was between those dates that
year.
