There was quite a famous big game hunter in the 1940's nicknamed "The
Tiger Man", but I suspect you're asking about half-human/half-tiger
types of critters.

A newspaper article from 1894 carries a story -- hard to say if it's
fiction or non-fiction -- of some strange events.

In the 1880's in Denver, the story goes, dogs were being stolen and
apparently eaten. There were also some particularly gory murders that
may or may not have been related.

The events gave rise to a tale of a tiger-man the offspring of a women
who was attacked by a tiger -- and died -- but not before she gave
birth to a child. Her final words were: "My child has a tiger's
blood in his veins".

This, of course, grew to become the man-tiger, who was eventually shot
and killed after yet another gory killing.

That the murders and dog-thefts may have actually occured is certainly
possible. That there really was a half-man/half-tiger
creature...Well, I'll let you be the judge.

Waht do you think?
