I installed an ipod on my windows xp system and since doing so have
not been able to burn a cd. My d drive recognizes cd's or dvd's with
programs, music, etc, but not blank ones. I have tried reinstalling
my drivers and software for the cd burner, but with no luck. I am told
it may have something to do with my usb port, but not sure how to fix it. I
am using itunes and also have music match jukebox installed. Do I need
to buy a new cd burner? Will it work with my ipod installed? Thanks!

I'm no hardware junkie, but have had to deal with plenty of
these sorts of squirly problems. Just as a test, you might
want to uninstall the software that began the problem and
see if that has any effect. Then reinstall your CD burning
software, not the drivers. If that works, then rerun the
iPod/iTunes software installation and be careful during the
installation to not allow it to change any file associations
unless you are sure you want it to.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what you'd want to try next. Hope
this helps.

Try this

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
Expand the following registry subkey:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD
Burning\Drives

<back up this key now if you want to>

In the left pane of the Registry Editor window, click the Volume{GUID}
In the right pane of the Registry Editor window, double-click Drive Type.
In the Value data box, 2,and then click OK.

restart and see if it has worked

hope this helps
