I need a 400 - 500 word original article explaining how the favicon.ico is handled in Internet Explorer. I plan to post the article on my web site: http://resqpc.com/freshlinks Therefore, it must be original research. I already know how to create the favicon.ico file and upload it so that it is valid and available for end user bookmarks. I will write that part of the article. I need 400 - 500 words on the following: I need to know: 1) Exactly where does IE store these files in most configurations? 2) What kinds of things cause these files to be deleted? 3) Can a user protect the favicons by copying them to another directory? 4) If so, how can you point IE to the new directory? 5) What can go wrong with the icon for example http://hotornot/favicon.ico looks fine in IE but can't be read with iconedit32 6) Brief discussion about multiple size formats imbedded in one .ico file. 7) Any other thing that a curious user would want to know about the favicon.ico file. For instance, how does it differ from a normal .ico file on the desktop. 8) Why do so many websites use the Netscape icon as their favicon.ico? | |
