There are three basic reasons I can think of

It was addressed to a specific researcher and then not noticed again
when you changed that aspect.

Two, no one could find an answer they thought you would consider worth $50.

Three, no one thought they could answer it for only $50.

Just some thoughts, I obvioiusly can't speak for others but when a
question doesn't get answered you can try rephrasing it or raise the
price you are offering.

As someone who has used this service on occasion, You will find a
strange inconsistancy in how well a question is answered. In many cases
I have got good answers for a small fee (say less than $10.00) for questions
which were not altogether straightforward (Example Question ID:
473455) while in other cases questions which I thought were perfectly
straightforward and a much higher fee did not get answered (Example
Question ID: 478807). In many cases commentators will provide answers
when the Google researchers do not.

Notwithstanding what siliconsamurai has said , Google Answers is under
no obligation to answer any question. (If you do not believe me you
can confirm this with Google Answers) If a question is fairly
straightforward
and contains no unsuitable content(eg bad language, requesting adult content,
requesting information for illegal purposes etc.) the question may
still not be answered if no google researcher is interested in
researching the particular
question. Thus if someone were to ask the different colours of Judy Garland's
costumes during the Wizard of Oz no Google researcher is required to
answer this question (even for a hefty fee).

You can go back and look at many of he older questions posted and you will
see that many of them have not been answered (Although in many cases
comments added by both Google Researchers and non google researchers
go a long way to answer the questions). Google Answers may even give
you statistics on this.

PS This is not meant to be a critism of Google Answers. It is actually a
very unique service and I do not know of any equivalent service. Also
some basic clarity and politness in the way the question is asked
will result in
some excellant answers!

And probably most importantly, it seems these questions start out as
"what does the word "largest" mean, then become questions regarding
whether or not this company will correspond with that company, and why
didn't I get my loan, and will they help me find property that I can
buy for 20% of the asking price. Just a guess.

dprk - I would only point out that I didn't say anything about an
obligation to answer the questions so I don't quite know where that is
comming from.

Otherwise I would give you five stars for your comment.

I have other comments but they might infringe on the rules about
giving out details about google. I think I can get away with saying
that if we see that the comments have pretty well answered the
question we probably won't bother with it, although I will on occasion
if I think things need to be better organized.

Sometimes it is just random chance depending on how busy we
researchers may be on other projects and what happens to strike out
fancy at a particular time. I tend to answer questions I already know
the answer to or want to know the answer to myself.

Siliconsamurai

My choice of words were probably not the best in this case.
With respect to your comments , yes I agree with them
and the three reasons you gave are absolutely good reasons
why a question would not get answered.
In addition to what you said, I was pointing out to the
questioner that Google researchers are under no obligation
to answer any question. (on rereading my comment I realise
I may have implied that you also made a reference to this
which is of course not true)
Kind Regards
