Hi there.

Not much on Mr. Calafato, I'm afraid. I checked the internet,
newspaper archives and a number of biographical resources, but there's
very little out there.

The only thing that shows up is a date of birth and death for a Thomas
Calafato who was, in fact, born in Mass., although he was in
California at the time of his death in the 1960's. This looks like
the same guy, but it's hard to know for sure.

Is there anything else you can tell us about him to help us track down
additional information.

Thanks.

Yes that is the same Thomas Calafato, born in Mass. and died in California.
He was a drummer in some of the big bands. I believe he was the
drummer of record in the Ziggy Elman recording of "And The Angels
Sing". I have a photo of him in the Louis Armstrong Band as his
drummer sometime during that time period. Also, Count Basie recalls
him as a drummer he used for some time in his band, during that time
period.
He is my father.
