Question ID: 481855
I need URL lists of the following departments of ALL universities in the U.S.:

School (or Dept.) of Arts
School (or Dept.) of Economics
School (or Dept.) of Business
School (or Dept.) of Sociology
School (or Dept.) of Political Science
School (or Dept.) of Philosophy
School (or Dept.) of Theology

THE REQUIREMENTS

1- The lists must be complete.

2- All URLs must be valid and up to date.

3- The URL lists must be stored in 7 seven separate .txt files (one for
each department), and this is very important.

4- Please do not confuse College of Arts and Sciences URL with, for
example, Department of Political Science URL - for one is the college,
and the other is one of the many departments in it.

ADDITONAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

1- If you cannot find all seven, I can make a partial payment.

2- I will pay extra if you add the full list of department URLs of
universities from Canada, U.K., Australia or India too.
The extra would be $15 dollar for each additional country. In oher
words, if you find a complete URL list of all 7 departments in all of
these additional 4 countries, I will pay an additional $60. (The same
requirements above apply to each country.)

neutral-ga,

Hello.

As you can perhaps tell from some of the comments (below), your
request seems quite disproportionate to the price offered.

I cannot see any straighforward to compile the lists you requested,
nor to guarantee that any such list would have ALL universities
listed.

Perhaps you should consider adjusting the paramaters of your question
to better fit both the price and the realities of compiling
information.

Just a suggestion...

Here is my clarification:

I believe I should say ALL MAJOR universities, instead of ALL
universities. Of course, I would not hesitate to pay the researher for
a couple of unimportant colleges.

In addition, I didn't think that one would go thru all universities to
compile a list.

Since people who do the research here are supposed to be experts, I
thought they would retrieve the requested information from directories
of colleges on the web or elsewhere; and then would provide the
information.

One other thing that I should add might be that I am not asking for
.txt documents which consist of emails only. The researcher does not
have to erase all other information that may be there. This would be
really time consuming. Besides this is not a requirement at all. As
long as the emails are there, I have no problem with additional
information.

neutral-ga,

Your original question asked for URL's, and your clarification
mentions emails...can you clarify what it is you want?

Also, have a look at this link, and let me know if this meets your
needs for a list of Departments of Economics:

http://edirc.repec.org/usa.html

If it doesn't, let us know why not, and what sort of list would better
suit your purposes.

Thanks.

I was wrong to say 'emails'.

The original info is right.

It should be 'URLs'.

Sorry, my bad.

----

I cannot open the URL you sentç Maybe the server is down. I will try
again and let you know. Thanks.

The URL you have provided looks like a good one.

I consider the research for 2 of the 7 departments DONE. (business and economics)

5 more and we are done.

Thanks for the food find.

The URLs below have the items I am looking for.

He who extracts the department URLs from them into .txt files will
have this question answered.

Thanks.

I do research off this board, and I wouldn't take on a job like that
for $1,000. It could take weeks of work, and you could never be sure
you had "all" universities.

[I'm posting my clarification here, as well, for safe-keeping]:

neutral-ga,

I will ask the editors to remove my answer -- it may take a day or so
for it to disappear.

It was generous of you to offer partial compensation. If you wish to
do so, however, you'll have to post a new question to my attention.
The usual procedure is to post a $2 question with the subject: "For
pafalafa-ga".

The question itself is something trivial -- What is your favorite
color? -- that sort of thing. After the question has been "answered",
you can leave any additional amount that you care to as a tip.

You can see an example of what I mean here:

Thanks for attempting to get your question answered here...I hope a
full-fledged answer comes to pass, somehow.

Best,

paf
