Why do leaves fall off my pepper plant? Any instructions on pepper plant care would be useful. I've grown one from a seed and it could be in better health. |

Dropping leaves, if they yellow before they drop, often signal that the plant is getting too much water. I would also check for pests such as mealy bugs and spider mites. To prevent overwatering, consider getting a moisture meter, generally about $5. It is a device you can poke into the soil to see how dry or moist it is. I learned this trick from the person who maintained the plants in office buildings. She wandered around with this gizmo and stuck in into each pot before adding any water. The pest problem can be solved by purchasing small insecticide spikes specifically for houseplants. You stick them into the soil like fertilizer spikes. They will stop mealybugs and spider mites, which are particularly difficult to eradicate. Good luck! historybuff |
