BACKGROUND I have recently purchased a Sandisk Photo Album which takes memory cards from digital cameras, and displays the saved photos and/or video clips on a TV - without a PC. I am able to copy JPEG images to the Sandisk Photo Album and display them on the TV, but when I copy video clips to the Sandisk Photo Album in does not recognize the format. (I have been able to play clips that come from a camera). After speaking with Sandisk Tech Support, it appears that the videoclips that come from a digital camera which Sandisk supports are: Motion JPEG or MPEG-1 (QVGA resolution/up to 8 frames per second) [http://www.sandisk.com/retail/spa.asp] Since the files I have are Quicktime movies, they say I need to find a converter. QUESTION: Which application (Macintosh OS X) will convert Quicktime videoclips to MPEG-1 files at QVGA resloution and 8 frames per second? or to Motion JPEG? | |

If you have Quick Time Pro, you can use it. Also, Adobe Premierre is a good bet. |

yoxim, Thanks for your suggestion. I just checked,, and the two applications you mentioned are VERY expensive (relative to what I want to do). You've made me realize that I need to clarify my question... CLARIFICATION: You answer must be Freeware or shareware or commercial software costing $20 or less. Thanks |

you can simply download a free trial version of the said programs. should be just as functional as the real thing. when the 30 day free trial expires, simply don't register it and remove it from your computer. |

yoxim, Thanks for your follow-up comment about ffmpx. I had already found and tried it, but even with the great number of options to convert among video formats, I couldn't get the converted files to work on my device. I'll keep trying. Thanks. |

I have been using the program Tmpgenc and a Mov file plug-in to do just what you are describing. You can get Tmpgenc at www.tmpgenc.net and the mov plugin at http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=TMPGEnc_Mov_Plugin&all=1 Tmpgenc is shareware and very reasonable in price. You can use it to convert to Mpeg 1 or 2 files and it highly rated. I would check out www.videhelp.com for any questions you have with video they have a huge amount of information and tutorials available. good luck |

dirvictor, I was hoping to find software that would run on my Mac (OS X), but I'll see what I can do. Thanks. |
