Question ID: 482065
In Microsoft Word 2002 (or later)

How do I change the Author of a Track Changes comment or text
manipulation (the Author information appears when you hover over a
change) when the original Author data was incorrect? I'd like to do
this without having to reapply the changes to the originaldocument.
Ideally I'd like to change the Author string on all outstanding
changes to be attributed the current Author (as defined in Tools ->
Options -> User Information).

Interesting. I just saved a file with tracked changes as RTF. I opened
it in Notepad. I could see my name as the author. I did a find and
changed each one to John Smith, and it worked. I'm wondering if we can
get some VBA to do this for you. I'll be back.

No VBA required.

Open your document.
Hit View-Toolbars, and choose the Visual Basic Toolbar.
Choose the last button, far-right.
This opens the file with all its info.
Do a Find/Replace.

Cool, huh?

And free! I'm not a researcher.

Sorry. Just to clarify: that last button is the Microsoft Script Editor.
