I think it would be best if I broke this answer into two parts:
a. How to transfer a document from Word Pad to diskette.
b. Email an attachment to preserve document formatting.
Steps to transfer a document from Word Pad to diskette:
1) Insert the diskette you would like to put your document on.
2) Open your document in Word Pad.
3) Once the document is on your screen and appears as you like, use
the menu to select: File | Save As
4) This opens a dialog box asking where you want to save the file.
Near the top the dialog box, you'll see the words "Save in:" followed
by a drop list rectangle. Click inside the rectangle so that the full
list is displayed.
5) When the full list is displayed, you can select 3 1/2 Floppy (a:)
or any diskette drive where you have put the diskette.
6) Towards the bottom of this dialog box the words "File name:"
appear with an area to the right of it for you to type a name. Make
sure you give the file whatever name you prefer.
7) Further towards the bottom of the dialog box appears the words
"Save as type:" where you can select "Word Document 6.0" or "Rich Text
Format (RTF)" in order to keep your document formatting.
8) Click the Save button.
You have just saved the file to your diskette.
Discussion of Email Attachments:
Now, in order to make sure that your file appears as desired when you
send it by email, you will want to send the file as an attachment.
When the person receives your email, they can download the attachment,
which should appear with all of your intended formatting and
centering. It is important that you saved your file as the type "Word
Document 6.0" or "Rich Text Format (RTF)", to allow formatting to be
sent properly. You may want to send a test message with your
attachment to yourself, just so that you can confirm that it appears
properly.
If you have questions about how to send attachments, feel free to ask
for a clarification to my answer. If you do, please let me know what
you use for sending email. If any of these steps are unclear, please
let me know, and I will try to help. |
