I am looking for good URL images of two paintings, one by Renoir and
one by Manet. These paintings were painted on the same afternoon, of
the same view by both painters. It is a painting of a party of
people, some boats, on a river.

Hello prof23-ga,

I can provide you with URLs that show that both Renoir and Manet
painted the same scene of Camille Monet and Son at the same time. The
boating scene seems to have been painted by Renoir and Monet as
indicated by websearcher-ga. Please clarify which painters and
paintings you're looking for. Thanks.

Are you sure it wasn't "La Grenouillère" by *Monet* and Renoir?

It was in 1869 that Renoir and Monet began to paint in what would be
known as the Impressionist style. Located at the Seine river near
Chatou, Grenouilliere (the Frog Pond) was the location where Renoir
and Monet painted three landscapes apiece, each from the same view.
These would be the first Impressionist paintings. Impressionism is a
style of painting in which the work is spontaneous. The idea was to
paint immediate impressions as they would supposedly appear on the
retina of the eye. They eliminated black shadows and painted in
rainbow colors, thus creating a feeling of lightness and atmosphere.
They used complementary colors when modeling forms, eliminating lines
and perspective.
