I have a pdf version of a scanned book; about 1000 pages and about 50
megabytes or so. While I read the book online, I want to do fast
searches for words or phrases in the book. The search function that
comes with Adobe Acrobat is very slow, sometimes taking 30 seconds or
more to search the whole book. I want near instantaneous responses,
like any half-decent text editor search. Are there any products I can
get that will let me rapidly find in a PDF work specific text?
Note that I already have X1. The problem with that software is that,
although it can tell you instantly if a phrase is inside a book, it
does not tell you where in the book the phrase is.
I also tried converting the document to word using Acrobat's default
conversion, but it doesn't work well (for one large book it just
crashed).
I am only interested in responses that name a specific product. Note
that this is not a web search and it is for one standalone laptop. The
product must support visualization as well as acrobat. |
