I've been to Mexico (Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, and the Mayan Riviera)
but I didn't really find any spectacular beaches or water there. I
love white, talcum powderish sand, and crystal clear blue/green water.
I live in Toronto and would like to know of the locations nearest me
that have spectacular beaches. I'm not looking for some tiny,
uninhabitated beach; a major resort area would be fine. I'm not averse
to going back to Mexico either. I just want to go to a really stunning
beach that has a nice resort on or near it. I went to Ayia Napa,
Cyprus once, and it was fabulous. Anything like that would be great. A
place where gambling is legal would be a plus, but it's not a deal
breaker.

Powdery white sand and great beaches are found in the Dominican
Republic areas of Puerto Plata, and Punta Cana (more so the latter).
To catch up on reviews of the beaches and resorts, you should go to
www.debbiesdominicantravel.com. Travelers post all kinds of reviews
there and many are Canadian tourists like yourself.

Hope this is a destination you would like.
