Okay, this is a huge deal to me and I have no idea how you'll find it.
Back around 1989-1991 a song played on my radio around the summer
time that was
probably a one hit wonder. The song has never been played since and
the lyrics that I have are based on the memory of when I was in 2nd
and 3rd grade. I'll do the best I can and if you find it, WOW! It's
sung by a woman and these are the lyrics

Dream lover I can't find you in the nye.
Won't you take me to your castle in the sky. Whoa
Dream lover, you can take me far away
Where there's blue skys and eternal of life.

It might not even be Dream lover but that's what I swear I remember
and no lyrics site can find it. As I said it was around 89-91 same
time as Summerrain by Belinda Carlisle and Heart like a Wheel by Human
League. Please help me.

I'm getting the impression that you don't want to pay the researcher
because you found the song. If that is the case then:

Pay the researcher. You have spent, who knows how many years, looking
for this song. And the researcher found it for you.

Think of it this way, you take your car to get repaired, the car is
fixed, then you figure it out yourself. The works is done and you
would still have to pay. You hired someone to fix the car - and you
hired someone to find that song.

If, on the other hand, you do plan on paying the researcher then I'm
sorry for misunderstanding you.

That would be the case normally and I would still like to tip the
researcher for their help if that's possible. I put a comment on the
page to unlock the message as soon as I could get back the where the
site was, but it was of no use. Google should not lock these messages
from the users. It was midnight or 1 in the morning when I put the
info out and I didn't expect someone to be working at that time
anyway. I will be glad to pay the reasercher directly a small sum for
this, but not google. This is a very rare situation of giving up and
seeing the light with a last chance and the fair thing would'v been to
allow me to cancel so the reasercher didn't have to work on it for
nothing. That's not the way it turned out and that's why I will pay
them directly if that's possible.

Hello axwriter,

Let me begin by apologizing again for posting my answer after you
clarified you had already found the song. I usually don't refresh my
page while working on a question, unless I am waiting for a
clarification for a question I have asked relating to the question the
customer has asked. This not being the case, I continued with my
research without seeing your clarification.

As for the time of night someone may work on your questions, you must
remember Researchers are located all over the world. So when some are
in bed, others are working during their day. I am located outside of
the US, so it wasn't late at night for me.

Google is not at fault here. While a question is locked, only the
asker and the Researcher who has the lock are able to clarify or
comment. However, the asker is not able to close his question. while
it is locked. Look at it this way: Of course it was quite a shock
seeing your clarification after having spent a couple of hours on your
question. But can you imagine the frustration I would have felt if I
had tried to post my answer only to find the question had expired!

Finally, there is no way to pay Researchers outside of Google Answers.
75% of the question price goes directly to the Researcher and 25% goes
to Google. Only a tip is 100% the Researcher's.

I hope this clears things up a bit.

Best wishes,
Rainbow

Axwriter, I'm sorry but your response sounded more like someone trying
to get out of paying the fee. Look at the answer. Look at the
research and links and backup information Rainbow provided. Did you
use any of his links to buy the song? If you HAD been able to cancel
the question - all of Raindow's work would have been wasted.

How would you have felt after working on a question for two hours that
someone had promised a $50.00 payment on - only to find that the
author decided not to pay and cancelled the question.

Please remember that YOU have been looking for this song since 2nd
grade and have not been able to find it. All your work and searching
yielded nothing. In your desperation you turned to Rainbow, a
professional researcher. He took on the problem that has haunted you
and was able to find what you could not find in only couple of hours.

To many researchers, Google Answers is their only income. Please take
this into account.

To clarify, no I did not use any of thr links provided to buy the
song. Once I found the information on my own moments after I sent the
question in desperation. I tried looking for downloads to the song.
Once I had the song and artist I found the same links Rainbow did and
by using google. Unfortunatly, the song is so rare that Kazza, WinMX,
and even the site I pay for to buy music doen't have it. I found a few
download sites but they want $20 for a years membership when it would
cost less to buy the cd off ebay (which I was forced to do)

My problem is this: I've never used this site before, nor did I know
it even existed. Last night I was watching a show that encouraged me
to find that song again (which I'd tried countless times in the past
using google, and failed.) I came across the google answers and
decided to give in for $20. But when I read the FAQ I got the feeling
$20 wouldn't be worth it and the question might not be looked at
thoroly. So I put in $50, thinking that IF somebody found it it would
be worth it, but at the same time I had a feeling it wouldn't be found
since I am a google guru myself and I couldn't find it. I wanted to
cancel the request as soon as I looked it up again, this time instead
of just typing in parts of the lyrics one by one I put (lyrics "take
me to your castle in the sky") and all of a sudden one site came up
and eureka. I couldn't cancel the request so I put the clarification,
assuming that it would come up on the researchers screen some how or
they would check back and stop looking because I didn't want them
wasting their time.

Since I can't tip without paying, I'd like to change the amount to $20
instead of $50 and pay a tip of $5 to cover what was deducted for
google's part. I understand this is your job and I don't want you to
go unrewarded by any means. That's not who I am and against what I
believe in. $50 was alot for me to begin with, but like I said this
information was worth it to me. But when I found it myself, the
information should be more affordable.

Is it possible to at least change the price?

Hi axwriter,

You cannot change the price of a question once it's been answered.
When the editors remove my answer, I believe you are then able to
change the price. If for some reason this doesn't work, you can close
this question and re-post another indicating you would like me to
answer it.

I hope that helps.

Best regards,
Rainbow

Rainbow,

What's going to happen? Is the editor erasing your answer? When would that happen?

Rainbow is a hell of guy! All in a effort to continue helping you he
is willing to cut his fee to $20.00 buckoos. Just to make sure you're
happy. Hell of guy, if it is a guy. Might be a gal - in that case I
suggest you marry her. Maybe you're a gal, but in that case Rainbow
might be a guy - once again I suggest you marry him.

Dude - wiggle as you might - (you remind me of my son). There is right
and there is wrong. You agreed to pay the fee. At the time you typed
in 50.00 bucks that song was worth every penny. Rainbow not only found
the song, you could never find, but gave you links which you tell us
you did NOT use -- Hmmm wiggle wiggle wiggle... If you had used the
links would you owe the money?

Rainbow also gave you links to where you could buy the song for $7.63.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4704845942

Buy the song, pay the fee and move on - all this effort to get the
song for free and get out of paying the original fee you agreed to,
is.. is.. is.. unbecoming.

What a minute........ I just reread what you wrote:

"I found a few download sites but they want $20 for a years membership
when it would cost less to buy the cd off ebay (which I was forced to
do)"

Did you, say it ain't so, did you use Rainbow's link to ebay....???

The plot thickens....

No, I did not use the links to do anything. I bought the song off
ebay because I couldn't find it online unless I paid $20 on a download
site. I had this whole thing taken care of that night. I went to bed
and the question had not been answered. By the next day the question
was answered with the links. (which I'd already found the night
before, mind you) but the CD was already ordered and is on it's way to
my house as we speak. The links came too late, I'd already found the
answer.
I do know what ebay is and use it quite frequently. I can't believe
it didn't occur to you that I could've bought the CD off EBAY on my
own without having to be supplied links, especially since EBAY is the
biggest auction market place on the internet. Unless somebody has been
living under a rock for the past 5 or so years, they know what ebay
is. As I stated once I found the artist, I was able to find all the
same stuff Rainbow did, and faster I might add, since I had
eveyrything taken care of an hour or so before my answer was posted.
And as I said, at the time I typed in $50, the song was not worth
every penny because I seriously thought it would not be found. My
first price was $20, but because it looked like $20 wouldn't give
researchers a lot of incentive to jump on the question I had to up it
against my funds at the moment.
