Inexpensive motorcycle transmission source needed. Specifications:

* Must not be too long or too wide for motorcycle use. The frame is
custom, so this is flexible.
* Must be a separate unit, not part of an engine.
* Manual, not automatic. Mechanically or electrically shiftable, not
reliant on an oil or fluid pump.
* Motor input is 5000 RPM, 100 HP peak. This is somewhat flexible,
with different size sprockets.
* 2 speeds, 1:1 and 1:5 preferrable. More speeds, and different ratios are okay.
* Input and output shafts may be parallel or 90 degrees, parallel preferred.
* Not too heavy (less than 40 pounds)
* Doesn't have to be a M/C transmission per se, and long as it meets the criteria.
* Belt or chain input / output. Preferably a splined, keyed, or bare
shaft for attaching my own sprockets.
* Less than $400

Ideally, I would use a Harley Davidson transmission, but these are
very expensive, even used. An inexpensive source for a used reliable
Harley transmission would be acceptable. The BMW transmissions are a
bit too long, and more suited to the in-line shaft drive layout. The
Triumph pre-unit transmissions appear to be too lightweight.

The motor in question can be seen here:

An unusual but workable solution is acceptable, though I'm mostly
looking for a bolt-in component with minimal machining.

I'm going to need information regarding a source of the above.

I would suggest checking out http://www.biker-dude.com, there are many
resources listed there for motorcycle shops and dealers, custom bike
builders and also a biker mechanic who will answer your questions.

The guy who answers questions on shop talk at www.biker-dude.com could
probably tell you which transmission would work best, and probably
could suggest where one is located. He's been around motorcycles of
all sorts for a long time.
