Hi ehoffland,

Is this website one that just exists
on the net that you'd like to save
to a CD? Or is it a website of your
own?

Most browsers respond to the website
code (HTML) the same way regardless of
whether it's on a remote server or on
a local one. If it's a website of your
own you should be able to simply burn
your local copy of the website straight
to a CD with a program such as Roxio.

Here are some other CD mastering programs:

And a CD-r faq:

If it's a website online, you will have
to use a "spidering program" to save it
locally, for offline viewing:

[ http://www.winarchives.com/workstation/browsers-_offline.html ]

and to modify the links to be "relative to the CD"

]

Is there a higher level of interaction
besides just "normal hypertexting" that
you are interested in?

please let us know about the clarifications,
thanks

I am trying to simply put my website (www.thirdwheelproductions.com)
on cd-rom for marketing purposes. I have several video samples on my
website optimized for fast modem users (IE: cable modem and DSL) that
dial-up users cannot enjoy. I would like to mail these users with
cd-roms of my website so they can also view my video samples wihtout
having to use a fast modem connection.

hi ehoffland,

You can first save ur website as individual html files and change the
links in each file appropriately, You can then burn it into a CD.
Another option is to convert whole website into a Flash file as an
.exe file.
There are various websites also who do this kind of work for a price
ofcourse, you can refer to them also.

If you go this route, don't forget to include support for Mac OS and
the other Unixes (unless you happen to be selling a Windows only
product). :) <http://www.macromedia.com/software/director/>

If you choose to burn the site to CD rom, the only change you'll have
to make is to be sure all of the links are relative, not absolute. In
other words, your links should point to the root of the directory
structure, not to the webserver.

EX:

Relative:
<a href="/pages/mine/secondlevl/file.html">

Absolute:
<a href="http://mysite.com/pages/mine/secondlevl/file/html">

You'll also need to replicate the exact directory structure on the
disk.

If you want to launch the index page in their browser when they put
the CD in the drive, you'll need a third-party program like this:

ShellExe from WhirlyWeb:
