I am looking for images of a painting in the Galeria Nazionale in
Rome, Italy, entitled "Vision of Beato Amodeo Mendes de Sylva," ca.
1446, att. (at one time at least, but apparently no longer)to
Bramantino. Where?

Dear samedge,

The correct name of the painting is "The Vision of the Blessed Amedeo
Menez de Sylva" (Visión del Beato Amedeo Menez de Sylva), by the
Spanish painter Pedro Fernández (born approx. 1480, died after 1521).
It is very unlikely that the painting you have in mind dates from
1446, since Amedeo Menez de Sylva (real name: Joăo Mendes de Silva,
also known as Amadeus of Portugal, 1420-1482) was only 26 years old
then. But this is without any doubt the painting you are looking for,
as this quotation from the description shows: "Art historians once
agreed in giving this painting to the hand of an anonymous painter
known only as the 'Pseudo Bramantino'..."

Here is a large image of that painting:

Here is a biography of Amedeo Menez de Sylva, from the Catholic
Encyclopedia at New Advent:

Hope this is what you were looking for!

I'm glad to know that my answer is helpful. However, Google Answers

You can, of course, mention Google Answers and my screen name. Or, if
you prefer that, you can ask our editors if they will provide you my

Thanks scriptor. You're a great help. I'm currently preparing a book
in which this painting may be included. Please tell me your name, and
I'll mention your help in the acknowledgements.
