What sort of chart are you seeking? Tabular layout of rows of
records? Or do you mean a line chart, pie chart, bar chart,
high-low-close chart. If you could be specific about the data you are
starting from and then describe what the final product needs to look
like, it will be a lot easier to answer your questions.

I would like to create a bar chart. I am pulling the data from an Access table.

I need to specify 3 fields named: Production Area, Workcenter, date.
However, I would like to put in a date range.

Now for the data to display...I would like to show field "Scrap
Reason" in X direction (top 5 by scrap quantity) and field "Scrap
Quantity" in Y direction.

Try Chart Director [ http://www.advsofteng.com/ ]

I've used this component in the past and liked it. The best part for
you is that the software comes with many, many examples of the most
common chart types, including sample VB code for generating each
chart. Their help guides will give you far more detail than I could
here. The evaluation version allows you to indefinitely and fully use
the product without restriction. Until you license the product, it
will simply place a small promotional banner in each chart you
generate. The price, however, is very reasonable should you decide to
implement this component in a production environment; subsequently
your charts will not contain the promotional banner. Good luck.
