I have a child with a married man who moved to another country two weeks after our baby was born. She is now 3. She does not carry his last name. His choice. He does not like children yet has 5. Two from two marriagef and 3 out of wedlock with 3 different women. He never took responsibility for any of the ones outside the marriage. As far as I know the last girlfriend never wanted him near her child. Probably for the same reasons as myself. I found out when my daughter was born that he is interested in having sex with young girls middle school girls, he tied up his niece with ducktape one time, among other things. But, all the proof I have will not be admissable in court. He is an obsessive, vendictive person and extremely smart. He covers all his tracks. He is very wealthy and I am a single mom struggling to make ends meet. What can I do to protect my child and keep him away? I am desperate. I am afraid he will come back one day and ask for visitation rights and if he takes her out of my sight for 1 minute, I know he is capable of anything. What are my rights? Please help me. |

I assume that you are hoping to avoid hiring a lawyer since it can be expensive but in this case you may want to. If you do not recieve child support from him and never plan to you should approach him about relinquishing his parental rights to the child. That means you are never entitled to child support from him but it also means that he can never ask to visit with her either. Since they have no relationship with each other this seems to be your best avenue. I am not a lawyer and can not comment on the specifics of Florida law or tell you how to go about this. In many states there are legal aid services for free or for a much smaller fee than a private lawyer. Try local organizations that help women (battered women, single mothers etc.) and they may be able to tell you what legal advice is available for free. You may be able to just consult with a lawyer and do all of the filing etc. yourself. Best of luck to you both. |
