I know that alcohol slows the metablolism, but in terms of weight
loss, how much of an effect does it have? For instance, say I am
exercising an average amount, eating healthy foods, etc. Say I drink
12 beers a week, will this have a more negative effect on weight loss
than not exercising or eating unhealthy foods (other than the caloric
content of the beer itself). I guess my question is,
I know alcohol slows the metabolism, but how much and is it negated in
any way by exercise.

Like I said, yes I understand there is obviously caloric content of
the beverages themselves, but I am specifically asking about the
effect of the alcohol itself. I know if you drink a lot of beers with
150 calories each over a long enough period you're going to get fat.
What I am saying is say hypothetically you were able to exercise
enough to burn the exact caloric content of the beverages, would the
alcohol itself still have a great effect?

Don't neglect all the calories it adds.

according to a recent study, it is not only a question of how much
alcohol you drink over a week or month but more the way you drink it :
all at once or little every day. Some studies even suggest that it
helps taking little every day .
