"Benthic Snow" is basically congealed organic and inorganic matter found in the ocean column that settles to the seafloor much more rapidly than would occur if the constituant paritcles were not adhered to one another to form the snow. My main questions are 1. In general terms, what is the particle size distribution or characterization of the benthic snow., and 2. In the coast off of southern california, what is the general characterization and distribution of benthic snow. A good answer will answer at least one the these two questions. A great answer will cover both issues. Backgroung information would be helpful in addition to the direct answers. |
