The London Times carried the obituaries of about 40 surgeons during
the 1950's, according to a search of their archives. None of them
quite match the description you gave.

The only one coming even remotely close is the passing of Surgeon
Capt. Ernest Macewan, O.B.E. in 1953, although his obituary makes no
mention of a speciality.

Can you offer any more details to help us in our search?

The obituary would likely to be found in a Manchester newspaper, such
as the Manchester Guardian or Manchester Evening News. There were
other daily newspapers centered in Manchester, but I don't recall
their namse.
The spelling may be "McCavity" or something similar.
He was on staff at Manchester Northern Hospital. His parents came from Ireland.
Extend the search period from 1946 to 1960.
Thank you.
