Hi ciao!!

Meiosis:
"Meiosis is the process of cell division in germ line cells to form
gametes. This process furthers sexual reproduction because each gamete
has half the number of chromosomes of normal cells, so that when two
gametes (one from each parent) combine, the correct number of
chromosomes is preserved in the resulting zygote organism. This
process is unlike mitosis, where the cells are simply replicated,
preserving the number chromosomes."
From "The process of Meiosis":
http://www.brown.edu/Courses/BI0032/gentherp/meioIB.html

Meiosis is a division of a germ cell that involvs two fissions of the
nucleus and giving rise to four gametes, or sex cells. Each of the
resulting gametes has half the number of chromosomes of the original
cell.
The process includes the two stages of nuclear division (meiosis I and
II), usually accompanied by cell division. Each stage encompasses four
stages:
-Meiosis I:
           Prophase I
           Metaphase I
           Anaphase I
           Telophase I
-Meiosis II:
           Prophase II
           Metaphase II
           Anaphase II
           Telophase II
