This personal.xls file is supposed to open (hidden) when Excel is opened.

Mine does not. It is in the XL Start folder in Docs and Settings
where it should be. I have even created a new personal.xls and saved
to that XL Start folder. I deleted and reinstalled my Office program
and still it will not open.

To use the macros in my personal.xls file I must manually open the file.

How to fix this??

Thank you,

SixCard

Many thanks to gilligan, turkey and dreamboat.

I read and tried all your approaches to no avail.

The good news ... I went to Excell Help > About. Found a small box
named "Disabled Items", where in I found two references to add-ins
personal.xls.

These were enabled and now I find the personal.xls hidden when I open
and Excel workbook.

Again my thanks.

Make sure the XLStart folder is located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office 10 (Or Office 11)\XLStart

Try opening a new book and personal.xls
With personal.xls active Go to Window, Hide
Close excel.

Hi, SixCard. Depending on the macro, it could be hidden to all. Some
macros are intended to be run by others. For instance, if it says
"Private Sub...", you won't be able to see it. Remove the "Private"
part so it just says "Sub..." Perhaps that's the problem?

Oh. Here's an article on understanding personal.xls:
http://www.vbaexpress.com/forum/articles.php?action=viewarticle&artid=8

And here's Level 1 VBA training, free. It can help you to understand
where and how to look for your macros:

Good luck!

just go to tools in Xp menu bar and open options. In the general tab
there is a check box before the option "ignore other application", if
it is checked then unchecked it.
