I?ve been on the waiting list of a tenant corporation under the
Mitchell-Lama regulations for over 10 years. Have just received a
letter advising that my turn has come up. I have to check the
available apartment(s) (two) within the next 10 days.

The place of residence and the conditions are certainly desirable
however my family composition is different than the one listed in the
initial application in 1994. In brief ? to qualify for a two-bedroom
apartment I need to list a family composition of at least three
people. At present I only have a girlfriend whose legal status in the
U.S. is not very clear. She is not an illegal alien but is not legal
either (Canadian). And we are not living together, are not married,
and are not sharing banking account or have other proof that we are a
committed couple.

I need to clarify the following:

1. Is there a way for me and my girlfriend to satisfy the requirements
for ?Family Members? and how?

2. If (1) is satisfied, how to address the issue of being less that
three family members and still to be eligible for a two-bedroom?

3. If (1) or (2) is impossible to satisfy ? what is the best I can do
under the circumstances and if there are ways to maneuver around this?

Please provide detailed and focused answers (if any). I?ve already
read carefully what is online regarding the current Mitchell-Lama
regulations. I need professional advice that can help me, thank you!
