Dear nelson,

The brief and clear answer: It's legitimate. First, I checked who owns
the domain yourmusic.com. According to the whois database, the domain
is property of BMG Direct Inc. And BMG, one of the most important
players on the music market, would certainly very quickly stop any
scammer who tried to misuse their name. But the domain was already
registered on 2 October 1996, so there is no reason to suspect that it
is anyone else but BMG behind it.

While usually the use of P.O. Box addresses raises suspicion, the
customer service addresses for complaints and returns are not
suspicious in this case: Other BMG sites use them, too. So they have
not been faked.

I agree, however, that it is rather clumsy by BMG not to display a
full street address with telephone and/or fax number anywhere on the
website. This may cause cautious people, who are aware of the numerous
fraud sites on the Web, to think that it is a dubious scam.

Generally, Web research did not reveal indications that yourmusic.com
is a scam, only one complaint by a customer who thinks that he has
been ripped off, while the vast majority of metions in bulletin
boards, Newsgroups and the like do not indicate that the company is a
fraud. It seems to be exactly what it claims to be in the terms &
conditions section: "Yourmusic.com is an operating unit of BMG Direct,
Inc."

However, if you prefer to assure yourself of the reliability of
yourmusic.com, you could inquire with the U.S. headquarters of BMG
