Question ID: 486714
I want to approach universities in Barcelona and ask to teach a module
on an MBA course or something similar. TYhe modules would be on
Sarbanes Oxley, audit and Infomation Security - very relevant to
Barcelona because it seeks to attract foreign companies as a host for
shared services and relevant to universities because it is such an
'employable' feature on a degree. There are public and private and
foreign universities in Barcelona - how do I package such an
application, who do I make it to? How do I make it attractive? What
shall I charge, do I need course materials in advance, what references
shall I offer? what do I need to know? etc etc

I should have said offer to teach. Also could I feasibly extend the
offer and look for sponsorship from American companies or the local
council?

Hello Jezgwi-ga,

I?ll try to help you with this. It would be of use if you added some
information such as:

>> Do you speak Spanish and /or Catalan?
>> What is your nationality?
>> What academic or professional qualifications would you submit?

Thank you.

I speak limited catalan and spanish.
I am British.
I have degrees up to Masters level, a CISSP (technical infosec
certification) and recent consultancy experience.
I know people who do this - not well enough to ask them how they got fixed up!

Hello Jezgwi-ga,

Thank you for the info. I?m working on your query. It will take some
time because there are many institutions. I?ll keep you updated.
Thanks for your patience.

okay - thanks...

Clarification of Question by jezgwi-ga on 09 Mar 2005 07:52 PST
actually thinking about it perhaps you could get some stuff on
Barcelona as a place for shared services - the companies who are there
at the momnet - HP, citibank, avon etc. The council department that
has been setup to attract such outsourcing and statistics as to how
much they expect this sector tog row and why sarbanes oxley aware
graduates for example would be required...?

Hello Jezgwi-ga,

I?ve just seen your last clarification. I?m sorry, but while I can
realize how both approaches match a common need that is your wish for
practicing your profession in Barcelona, from the researching point of
view this new request makes a completely different, more
market-oriented question, which I wouldn?t have taken. However, if you
want me to continue working on the original question, please let me
know. Thanks for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Guillermo-ga

please carry on with the original question - I was actually trying to
help you answer it - at least the 'how do I make the offer attractive
part. I would appreciate it if you could tell me when you expect to
complete this?

Hello Jezgwi-ga,

Your last two clarifications have proved to be very opportune, because
they made me realize that I was taking the question in a different way
than you expected. After reading your phrase ?I was actually trying to
help you answer it - at least the 'how do I make the offer attractive
part?, I reread the original question and understood that the core
point is how to market your teaching offer, rather than compiling
accurate contact information for universities, what is what I was
focusing on. I apologize for the misunderstanding and, not being the
approach you need the most suitable to my skills, I?ll leave the
question open for other fellow researchers.

Sincerely,

Guillermo-ga

are you trying to get out of this or what? I mean I'm completely open
minded to suggestions on what the web can give me to help me out - you
read my initial quaestion and thought he wants a list of contacts well
okay that can be a base and what else is available - now you locked it
for 2 days and cant do anything this seems a little strange

Dear Jezgwi-ga,

Please don?t be upset. I?m just trying to act as I figure would be the
best for your satisfaction as a customer. Given that the scope you had
in mind was wider than what I had understood, I though should leave it
open in case another researcher was able to address your question in a
manner more useful for you. As to the two days lock, I was working on
a list of universities in Barcelona, which had close to one hundred
entries to review in order to find as much contact details as
possible. That?s actually a several days job. (Please note that
questions reach a thirty days lifetime, so long projects can be worked
out). Now I appreciate your wanting me to carry on with the contact
information list. Please let me finish a short project I had engaged
with in the meantime, and then get back to yours. Meanwhile the
question remains unlocked, so you can benefit from the chance that
another researcher wanted to give it a try for all of the aspects you
need. I will take a look to your question in a few hours and, if it
remains unlocked, I?ll take back it and carry on with the contact
information list building. I hope this clears away your concerns. I
invite you to check my answer records by clicking on my user name to
reassure you about the type of results you can expect; you can do so
for other researchers as well.

Best regards,

Dear Jezgwi-ga,

Thank you for your flexibility and trust in the approach I proposed
you; I believe it?ll prove to be fruitful for you.

A Google search for ?barcelona universidades? led me to
http://guia.paginasamarillas.hispavista.com/barcelona/universidades ,
a list of one hundred entries, some of which repeated though. To
depurate it, I followed this procedure: first I tried the link
provided in the list; when it didn?t work, I searched at Google for
the institution?s name; if not found, I discarded it. Otherwise,
either when the original link or a Google search led me to a valid
institutional website, I selected those that have business or
economics schools, faculties or programs, and looked for the contact
information most suitable to your needs, thus building the nineteen
institutions list below.

Please note that each institution?s website has its own way to
organize information. Besides general contact information, in some
cases I could find teacher recruitment announces, and in others, some
hints to facilitate a seemingly more effective contact. But in most
cases only the contact information was available in a practicable
searching procedure, given the quantity of records to review, while I
tried to include at least a minimum information on the institutions?
programs.

All that said, here?s the list. I hope you?ll find it useful. You can
contact me using the request for clarification feature if something is
unclear. Thanks for your question.

Best regards,

Guillermo-ga
