Hi thomascoh,

Technically, a woman can get pregnant on ANY day of her menstrual
cycle. She is more likely to become pregnant at certain times
(detailed below) however, there is no safe time for a woman to have
unprotected sex and feel safe against the possibility of pregnancy.
This means she can get pregnant ON her period, before it, after it, or
right dead center between her periods. I repeat... if a woman is not
protected against pregnancy ALL month, she runs a risk of becoming
pregnant.

To make it even more scary, no birth control is 100% effective, except
sterilization. I personally know 2 women that have become pregnant
while taking the pill. It is even possible for a woman to become
pregnant without intercourse occuring, if semen is released very close
to the vaginal opening.

There are times it is "more likely" a woman will get pregnant. If a
woman has a 28 day cycle (25-35 days is normal, with 28 being
'average'), she will likely ovulate on the 14th day. This means she is
MOST LIKELY to get pregnant from day 10 through day 18. Since day one
of the cycle is counted as the first day of the menstrual flow, this
is just after a period stops.

SEXUALLY SPEAKING - When can a woman get pregnant?
http://www.pchr.ca/PeaceCountry/pages/yourhealth_pages/SexuallySpeaking_pdf/WhenCanWomanGetPregnant.pdf
..."Q. Hello, I am a sexually active teenager who has a question, I
was wondering if it was at all possible to get pregnant 5 days after
your period. Thank you.

A. Hi and thanks for your question. I am not sure if you mean 5 days
after the first day of your period or 5 days after the last day of
your period. If it is 5 days after the LAST day of your period then
yes it is possible to get pregnant if you have had unprotected sex.

Unless your menstrual cycle is regular and you have kept track of it
over several months, it is difficult to predict when ovulation will
occur. Ovulation is when the egg is released from the ovary. When it
is released there are generally 24 hours in which it can be
fertilized. If you have had unprotected sexual intercourse up to 5
days before the egg is released fertilization can occur as the sperm
can survive for 5 days.

If you had unprotected sex 5 days after the first day of your period
the possibility of a pregnancy is there but less likely. Once again it
depends on the length of your cycle and when you ovulate, and as
mentioned earlier that can be a bit difficult to figure out. Trying to
guess at safe days is a bit like Russian roulette..."

sandy90011,

You had sex on Sunday, and again the following Saturday. Two days
later your period started (on Monday).

THIS TIME, you are NOT pregnant.

Sandy, birth control is very easy to obtain. And if your username is
your zip code, you are in South Central LA. Birth Control is VERY
accessable there.

Please click on the link below to find your nearest Planned Parenthood
facility. Call and make an appointment. In the meantime, your
boyfriend can wear a condom, and you can use spermicidial jelly at the
same time.

It's likely you will become pregnant and have an unplanned baby if you
continue to have unprotected sex. You were lucky this time.

It's a no-brainer hon, just tell him "no condom, no sex."

Planned Parenthood - Locate nearest office from this page.
https://www.plannedparenthood.org/pp2/portal/healthservices/makeappointment/?to=home
For CA try here: https://www.plannedparenthood.org/pp2/portal//healthservices/makeappointment/?to=home&state=CA

The LA Office is not posted there, you might want to call: 1-800-230-7526.

Here's some examples of female contraceptives you can buy over-the-counter:

http://www.walgreens.com/store/productlist.jhtml?CATID=100267&navAction=jump&navCount=1

And you might want to buy the condoms yourself so he doesn't have that
excuse. If you're too embarrassed, ask an adult to buy them. Nearly
any stranger will buy them for you, no questions asked.

Good luck, and get some protection NOW.

My boyfriend and I had sex a day after the last day of my period. I do
not think it was even 24 hours after. The condom broke and he
definitely did nut inside of me. My period is generally regular. I
hear that there is a slim chance to be pregnant the day after your
period because the egg hasn`t had time to drop yet. Is this true? And
what is the percetange that I can be pregnant?

I didn't have sex with my boyfriend. Two days after my period ended I
gave him a handjob and an hour later my same hand touched my vagina (I
had forgot about the handjob). It had been 3 weeks since then and I am
already feeling bloated, but do not have any other symptoms. Is it
possible for me to get pregnant? My boyfriend said he did not
ejaculate, but I want to know for sure if there is a chance. My period
has been about 5 days late the past couple of times, but it has
already been a week. I am worried, and need to know what is going on.
