Question ID: 488924
I am running 4 office PCs running Windows XP Pro SP2.
All 4 are configured similarly and are Intel Pentium 2.5 ghz or faster.
PROBLEM: One machine will not show Java Applets such as appears on
this website: http://www.hmimortgage.com/ with a Title of "Daily Rate
Quote".
I have tried all the settings in IE --> Tools --> Internet Options -->
Custom Settings
I have also tried all the settings in IE --> Tools --> Internet
Options --> Advanced --> Microsoft VM
... However, I am still unable to view Java Applets from this machines IE.
Flash and Images show correctly.
Also, I have used Technet and Microsoft Support Forums and cannot find
a correct solution.

I could pay the $245 Microsoft Support fee, but would rather find a
more reasonable solution.

Thank You in advance...

Thanks dtle-ga:

It sure felt good while I downloaded the difficult to obtain MS Java-Vm.
But, after a re-boot, java applets still show a red x box.

As for the Sun java download, thank you for the suggestion, but it
doesn't cure the problem on this machine.

Have you downloaded Java?

Usually this happens if you uninstalled the old MS Java Virtual
Machine Microsoft used to support. Since they pulled their download
you can no longer go to MS Update to get your java fix. Going to Sun
Microsystems to download their version won't help since the problem
seems to be with Internet Explorer. Of course you can always work
around this problem by using another browser like Mozilla or Firefox,
using Sun Java. Of course at the office, you can't give up security
for usability.

There's an ingenious website that mimicks the old Java update you'd
find in the past, the golden URL is
https://mpsnet.com/mvision/java.html

Here you can download the old MS Java Machine you need, it worked for
me. Just click the link to start the process, you'll see a progress
meter and in a minute or so there'll be the familiar prompt of the
past. Enjoy!

hi gregss

Try restoring default in Tool > Options > Advanced.

There is a setting.. JAVA... if you are using latest JVM, you should
see "use java 1.4.2_3 for <applet>" ... enable it and restart
computer.

Another setting could be... setting your Tool > Options > Privacy
level to Medium from Medium-High..

thanks and regards
