I have a website I did using a template on ipowerweb.com/ipage...
www.secondsourceelex.com. On our inventory page, we have a redirect to
a service call BrokerForum. I am trying to find out how to hide the
redirect url in the address bar. I cannot use frames...just html code
that I can cut and paste. Is there any way to do this? Thanks, Linda
Morganti

We are not trying to hide the redirect url in the address bar for any
nefarious reasons ;) Our company is a parts reseller and we use an
inventory service. If the people can SEE the address of the inventory
service we use, why pay us for finding the part for them? (They are
paying for our service/time and it's not always easy to find a part
even after it comes up on the inventory service we pay for).

On our inventory page, when you click on "search", the address bar
shows this "http://www.brokerforum.com/bfparts3?/WEBWIZARD/MULTI_LIST/MemberID=seconsou"
If I could hide even the first part (maybe by using the hex code for
it), the www.brokerforum.com part, that would be good enough. You
notice it has an id at the end that allows the parts service to
recognize us as a customer and allow us to use their inventory search.
I tried doing this on nslookup (I am a beginner remember) and got the
numbers 207.139.157.209, 207.139.254.209, 216.113.93.209 in response
to nslookup www.brokerforum. Unfortunatly, I can't type one of these
numbers into the address bar and actually get to Brokerforum. Does
anyone have any other ideas? I thought using the number equivalent
might be the answer. Hope this makes SOME sense.

I know you can accomplish this using a server side programming
language, something like PHP or ASP.

Many users, me included, do not appreciate having the address bar hidden.

Neither do I Nelson-ga, but it is used by many websites, including
many well know sites.

Hi,

This is a very simple task using PHP, and maybe MySQL. You can use
includes in php, which will include the redirect URL without
displaying the actual URL itself. If Google allowed me to answer I
could write up a quick script for you that would accomplish this.

Thanks.

Hi Superprogrammer-GA, thanks for responding...I am a beginner so
you'll have to tell me...is using php or mysql the same as just
cutting and pasting html? Would the customer still be able to type in
the part number, hit search (as they do now) and have it go directly
to the link I listed above in the clarification? Thanks for your
help. Linda M. (if it will work, let's do it if google allows it)
