A man who is either an engineer, architect, or artist has excavated a
mountain site somewhere in the Western US. He has opened stone
"windows" in the mountain itself to create vast inner spaces,
resulting in a granite "cathedral." These openings are astronimcally
situated, as well.
What and where is this site?
I believe I read about this sometime w/in the past several years in
The New Yorker magazine.
