1.) buy it. ca ~$10/g Alfa Aesar

2.) start with bromide $3/g, make grignard (ether @ 0 C), chuck in
trimethyl borate(ether 0C).  dump reaction into  5% HCL.
recrystallize, toluene (51%)

Alternatively make ur advisor buy it after trying to make the pinacol
boron using this effed up catalyst..lol
