How do I optimize Virtual PC to run RealTick on a dual G5?

Clarification of Question by growbot-ga on 12 Mar 2005 10:24 PST
I am running Windows XP Pro and have updated the VPC to 7.01 so that
it can run on my 4.5 Gigs.
Perhaps I need to modify settings of the RealTick software. It acts
like there are not cycles after all the data streaming showing in
which the software can swollow a mouse down event on a button.
I almost just went out and bought a PC to run the RealTick but I have
the 30 inch Apple Cinema display and all that RAM invested here on the
MAC. I'm afraid I'll have to put about $1500 in a PC laptop with big
screen before I'm through. A shame the VPC is really functional.

You'll need version 7 of Virtual PC (earlier versions aren't supported
on the G5). I'd suggest plenty of memory for the Dual G5
(preferably 1GB - some people have reported problems when more than
2GB was installed, it may have been fixed now).

They upgrade (free) to version 7.0.1 ( http://www.microsoft.com/mac/support.aspx )

If you bought the stand-alone version of Virtual PC, you'd need to
install the version of MSWindows (2000/XP). Then install RealTick.

If you have other/additional optimizations in mind, please ask and
provide more detail.

Sorry I haven't replied to this in a while because of travel etc. I
don't have Realtick (and still waiting for the Virtual PC upgrade) to
check. One thing to try is to make sure your mouse driver (if there
is a special driver for the Mac) is up to date (check the mouse
manufacturer's website for a mac specific driver - some do have them).
If that is not the problem you may want to contact Realtick and ask
for technical support and tell them about the mouse down event being
missed and explain the specific circumstances.

Perhaps a GA researcher with the right software will experiment and
give you a more useful reply. Good luck!
