sorry the news wasn't any better, but have you considered buying a PS2
on ebay (or elsewhere used) and using the PS2 version?  PS2 (and X-box
for that matter) are far superior game platforms to all but special
high-end gamer PCs.

Something to consider, especially since you can rent games.
