Hi there,
I have a mysterious problem downloading movies on my laptop.
Performance is terrible. I have to wait 90 minutes before I can start
watching a movie. It wasn't always this way. A year ago or so, I was
able to watch downloads within 10 minutes. What's changed since then:
moved from DSL to cable (but cable is faster than DSL for me),
installed new router (faster, too), reinstalled my OS on my laptop.
- I'm running Windows XP Professional, Korean version
- I've tried both Movielink and Cinemanow
- It's slow using Wifi and using my Ethernet network
- I've turned off security software
- I've rebooted my PC numerous times and reinstalled the Movielink download manager
- I've tried both Real Player and Windows Media Player, and both are
current versions
- I'm NOT running SP2 on this machine. If I do so, performance goes
to hell because it's kind of a slow machine
- If I use a different PC in my house, I can instantly play the movie
(literally, <1 minute)
- I've run several bandwidth tests, and they all say I have 300-1500
kbs of bandwidth
- The movielink download manager says I'm getting 350kbps right now
- I've added my laptop to my DMZ to ensure there were no firewall
problems at the router level.
I'll pay you if you can give me pointers that help me solve this problem. |
