SPAM: There are programs - thank goodness - that protect against spam. Should it not be possible to have a program that fought back? I am thinking of a program that one could click onto an undesired message, that would send it back - with interest, so to speak? I guess that would be fighting fire with fire, but what about the idea? I'm not suggesting loading the returned message with virus or the like. I don't really know anything about the net. Maybe it could be program for domains that "captured" spam messages - as the present ones do - but then just "eating" them responded. The question: Da - da! Could this be possible without becoming a spammer oneself? What are the problems? Since this question is more of a suggestion, and I fear the answer is a "quicky" for an expert (probably has already been asked here or elsewhere) I won't offer much for an answer. Thanks, Myoarin |

Mailwasher bounces anything designated as SPAM back to the sender, since they are mainly criminals using false addresses or even zombie machines it doesn't seem to bother them much. |

Hi myoarin, boyo Lycos has initiated a scheme whereby your computer when idle mail bombs spammers? servers to create ?denial of service?. Some feel such action is tantamount to breaking into a burglar?s house. Guess it is, but positive steps *have* to be taken to stop the malware which is bringing the system down. Governments are quick enough to chop certain critical stuff, so it can be done. It wouldn?t surprise me if persons with a terminal disease might be inspired to leave a legacy of good by ?terminating? some of these parasites. Best |

Please do not use any bouncer or similar feature that will send spam back to the sender. In nnearly all cases the sender is forged, so another innocent will reveive the bounce instead. this will even help the spammers, since two people will receive their spam for the price of one. also be careful with all programs that attack servers linked in spam, or other vigilante actions, without througout research . Several prominent anti-spam-fighters and producers of anti-spam-software have been 'joe-jobbed' (spammers sent mails in their name, seemingly advertising their products) |

Thanks, zem-ga. Now that you mention it, I quess I knew that before, but didn't recall it in my evil-minded devious thoughts about how to get back at them. Don't we all? Too bad. Actually I don't have a real problem 'cause my son and domain-owner does a good job. I think I'll let the question "expire". Y'all know more about this that I do, so the matter is not of general interest. Cheers! |
