Hello wyatearp:

Thanks for the interesting question.

Jay Robert Nash has written many, many books (over twenty) - but like
many authors, he keeps his direct contact information very private. I
could find no Websites that he has published and was unable to
determine exactly who his literary agents are.

[Even if I was able to find his home address or other personal contact
information, Google Answers rules forbid the disclosure of personal
information about individuals.]

However, the best way to contact an author with questions about a book
is to send a letter to their publisher. Most publishers will forward
book-related letters to their authors.

Jay Robert Nash, as I said earlier, has published *a lot* of books
and, I have discovered, had *a lot* of different publishers,
including:

* Da Capo Press
* M. Evans and Company
* Mcgraw-Hill
* Paragon House Publishers
* Nelson-Hall Publishers
* Simon & Schuster
* etc.

So, who do you write to? I would suggest the following strategy:

1. First, write the publisher that he used for the book in which you
are interested. "Encyclopedia of Western Lawmen & Outlaws" was
published by Da Capo Press.

Reading List - Old West/Gunfighters
URL: http://www.reenactor.net/1870-1900/readlist.html
Quote: "Encyclopedia of Western Lawmen & Outlaws by Jay Robert Nash.
Publisher: Da Capo Press; 1st Da Capo Press ed edition (September 1,
1994), ISBN: 030680591X"

This information was verified on Amazon.com.

I went to the Da Capo Press website and they list the following in their FAQ:

Da Capo: Frequently Asked Questions
URL: http://www.perseusbooksgroup.com/dacapo/faq.jsp
Quote:
"How do I contact a Da Capo author?

If you would like to contact an author we will forward a letter to
that author. We do not give out author's addresses. Please send the
letter to the following address:

Author's Name [Jay Robert Nash]
c/o Da Capo Press
Eleven Cambridge Center
Cambridge, Ma. 02142"

2. If that doesn't get you a response, then I'd try writing to one of
the publishers where he's published multiple other books.

According to my advanced search on Amazon.com, he's published six
books with M. Evans and Company. I went to their website (which is
very, very sparse), and was unable to find specific information for
contacting authors. However, most publishers will forward mail to
authors, so I'd use the following address:

About M. Evans and Company, Inc.
URL: http://www.mevans.com/about.html
Address:
[Jay Robert Nash]
c/o M. Evans and Company, Inc.
216 E. 49th Street
New York, NY 10017

Search Strategy (on Google):
* "Jay Robert Nash"
* "Jay Robert Nash" publisher
* "Jay Robert Nash" contact
* "Jay Robert Nash" email
* Jay Robert Nash agent
* Jay Robert Nash "literary agent"

I hope this helps.

How do I pay for this answer? How specifically do I direct payment?

Hello wyatearp:

You do not need to do anything more to facilitate payment. Before you
were allowed to post the original question, Google collected all the
information it needed to complete the transaction. Once the answer was
provided, payment was automatically collected (i.e, charged to your
credit card).

I have tried several of the suggestions and gotten no response but
with the addresses i will try again. I will also get the other
addresses. Also Mr. nash wrote an article for the Chicago Sun Times
newspaper in January. all efforts to get a response about him from
them has failed also. He is well insulated from his readers and those
seeking information.  LOL
