Heard lately that research points to green tea consumption as an assistant to losing weight. Can a GA researcher point me to some resources that don't appear to be sponsored by tea distributors or the "American Green Tea Alliance" or somesuch organization? |

Hi pcventures, -------------------------------------- American Journal of Clinical Nutrition -------------------------------------- Dulloo, A.G., et al. 1999. Efficacy of a green tea extract rich in catechin polyphenols and caffeine in increasing 24-h energy expenditure and fat oxidation in humans. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 70(December):1040-1045. Available at http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full/70/6/1040 "Conclusions: Green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content per se. The green tea extract may play a role in the control of body composition via sympathetic activation of thermogenesis, fat oxidation, or both." Nagao, T., et al. 2005. Ingestion of a tea rich in catechins leads to a reduction in body fat and malondialdehyde-modified LDL in men. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 81(January):122-129. Abstract available at http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/abstract/81/1/122 "Conclusion: Daily consumption of tea containing 690 mg catechins for 12 wk reduced body fat, which suggests that the ingestion of catechins might be useful in the prevention and improvement of lifestyle-related diseases, mainly obesity." ----------------------------- Agricultural Research Service ----------------------------- Bliss, R.M. 2003. Brewing up the latest tea research. Agricultural Research 51(September):10-13. Available at http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/AR/archive/sep03/tea0903.pdf "ARS chemist Richard Anderson found that regularly brewed tea, when added to the fat cells of laboratory rats, increased lose weight, we can?t actually say that green tea makes people lose weight. What we can say is that it raises metabolic rates and increases fat oxidation rates. Those are two things that are predictive of weight loss." The University of Chicago Hospitals http://www.uchospitals.edu/news/2000/20000223-tea.php Scientists at the University of Chicago's Tang Center for Herbal Medicine Research have found that a major chemical component of green tea caused rats to lose up to 21 percent of their body weight. WebMD Health http://my.webmd.com/content/article/99/105398.htm Aside from fighting heart disease, cancer, and other diseases, a new study shows that drinking green tea may also fight fat. The study showed that people who drank a bottle of tea fortified with green tea extract every day for three months lost more body fat than those who drank a bottle of regular oolong tea. |

Yes, correct this is a superb product. I bought it at www.aflorarte.com/belleza_y_salud.htm. If you visit this site, and if and only if (sorry) you read Spanish, then you can profit twice from this treatment since you can download a free e-book named "Larch.pdf". It teaches you how should combine all these products with attitude, and it is fantastic the way you can cooperate with yourself when you come to understand your behaviour. It is pretty smart and it is free. I hope you can take advantage of it. Sorry as this free e-book is in another site: http://www.aflorarte.com/ficha_larch.htm. Good luck! |

Yeah! Green Tea is really good for weight loss. Except that, some new ingredients from Botanicals are found to do good for weight loss. For example-Flavanols from Cassia Nomame,P57 from Hoodia Gordonii,Sennosides fron Senna Leaf and Emodin from Rheum. Available at Http://www.herbsea.com |

Re:amethystherb-ga Three of the four herbs you list (Cassia, Senna Leaf and Rheum) are purgatives, and should *never* be used for dieting! They can cause serious side-effects! |
