From an investor's perspective, what is the most important information
on the income statement?  Why?

Can you clarify whether or not you're referring to the "income
statement" portion of a financial report -- or to the whole financial
report.

I'd have answered "cash flow" but that's really reflected in the
"Statement of Changes in Financial Position."

in my point of view in INCOME statment other than profit/loss,
Expenses and what kinda expenses are. is the most important info from
investor point of view
WHY?
cuz by controlling the expenses one can increase the profit or reduce the loss
