My wife and i recently got our web site on relationship seminar published. An attendee tried to register on line but couldn't. The home page wouldn't download completely; some pages would load for a second and white out. Our computer guy said viewer didn't have Flashplayer installed but i asked other viewer with Flashplayer and some pages also didn't display properly. We need to understand what is going on and came up with some questions. 1 - Download - fast - normal - slow 2 - Are you using Apple or Windows 3 - Flashplayer installed 4 - Does the graphic ("Y man") overlap content in some pages? Which ones? 5 - On some PCs (Apple and Windows) the top left quarter of of every web page is blocked out by a big white square. What's the cause of that? How can it be fixed? Our computer guy says viewer didn't have Flashplayer but i asked viewer with Flashplayer but in some pages graphic overlaps. 6 - The page loads slow and the curved graphic around it usually loads in pieces. What causes that? How can it be fixed? (Complex border graphic? Customized background? Customized 'clouds' below image of person on left? Other? 7 - The pages are often slow to print. We often need to click on another link in the site before the request for printing is activated. What causes this? How can it be fixed? 8 - Registration. Are there easier Pay Pal interfaces we could use? Which ones? What do they cost? 9 - Are there other, better option for taking credit card payments that would also enable us to take credit card payments over the phone? Web site: www.fogelita.com We appreciate your help |

I've had a lot of experience with web-design and I can honestly say your site will be so much, much better without the flash animation. I'm on a 1Mb internet connection and a brand new iBook laptop and it locked up whilst loading your page. Scrolling is painfully slow and my computer is running slower whilst having your website in the background. Replacing the animation with a still image (you can use image maps to make the links work) wouldn't detatch from the overall appearance of the website so I think it's definately worth a try. I don't know of any payment solutions that can let you take credit card details over the phone, and personally I don't feel that comfortable giving them to a stranger as opposed to using a secure online system such as PayPal. |

Hi there--Here are my comments based on your questions. I hope they are helpful: 1. My download is Broadband and it downloaded in about 5 seconds 2 - I am using Windows 3 - I do have Macromedia Flash player installed and the Flash looks very cool. 4 - It doesn't look like the Y man is overlapping, but there seems to be a definite "break" in your pages where the graphic doesn't line up. 5 - No big white square here. But if I click on the Flash I do get a big white square. 6 - If it loads slow there are really only two possible reasons--too big of a Flash file or graphics are too big. Are your graphics in "pieces" to begin with to make a whole picture? Or is it just one big picture? 7 - Not sure why it is printing slow--again the Flash may be affecting this. How big is your home page including graphics and Flash? 8 - Registration. There are several registration options out on the Internet that can do all the legwork for you at a reasonable cost. Check out: www.rsvpbook.com You can also do online payments with them. The only other way is to have a programmer develop an online registration form and process it that way through https. Hope that helps! B-- www.bcdesignsit.com |

I hope to answer your questions and offer a further insight about your html meta tags. [Winxppro,ie6,flash=yes, loaded fine but I generally get almost 3Megs down on ADSL on speed tests. The site may be a little sticky on dial-up). The graphic in corner might load in pieces because it is a "sliced image." If so, that is a good technique to make a large image load more quickly by making it many smaller images. The web code reassembles the image using a table layout. The pages may be slow to print because of the overall size of the images and the "Flash." Flash is fun, but doesn't always play nice. Paypal is the best way to go initially because you can set up links on your site to accept payement. They take credit cards, checks, etc. And the money is transfered to your account with little payout to them. It is rather expensive to set up a merchant account to take credit cards, and you have to have a thwate or verisign security certificate. But, I wonder about the html code -- especially the Meta Tags. They could present an issue for you... Here's your code: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ <meta name="description" content=" Sex, Love, Spirit, Fogelita, sex, love, spirit, fogelita, Relationship seminars, Romance, Sexuality, Spirituality, Sacred Sex, Evolutionary Sexuality, Couples, Singles, Integral, Transformative, Practice, Being, multi-orgasmic, The power of pleasure, Creation, Manifestation, Better, sex, Romantic, Renewal, Sensory Awakening Adventure Full-body orgasm Human Potential Self-awareness Mystical Union, Meditation, Relationships, Personal, development, Sex, aging, Lifelong, Loving, Joy Steltzner, Nelson Olivera, Dating, Sexual, Healing, Integrated, tantra, Integrated, Tao"> <meta name="document" content=" Sex, Love, Spirit, Fogelita, sex, love, spirit, fogelita, Relationship seminars, Romance, Sexuality, Spirituality, Sacred Sex, Evolutionary Sexuality, Couples, Singles, Integral, Transformative, Practice, Being, multi-orgasmic, The power of pleasure, Creation, Manifestation, Better, sex, Romantic, Renewal, Sensory Awakening Adventure Full-body orgasm Human Potential Self-awareness Mystical Union, Meditation, Relationships, Personal, development, Sex, aging, Lifelong, Loving, Joy Steltzner, Nelson Olivera, Dating, Sexual, Healing, Integrated, tantra, Integrated, Tao"> <meta name="keywords" content=" Sex, Love, Spirit, Fogelita, sex, love, spirit, fogelita, Relationship seminars, Romance, Sexuality, Spirituality, Sacred Sex, Evolutionary Sexuality, Couples, Singles, Integral, Transformative, Practice, Being, multi-orgasmic, The power of pleasure, Creation, Manifestation, Better, sex, Romantic, Renewal, Sensory Awakening Adventure Full-body orgasm Human Potential Self-awareness Mystical Union, Meditation, Relationships, Personal, development, Sex, aging, Lifelong, Loving, Joy Steltzner, Nelson Olivera, Dating, Sexual, Healing, Integrated, tantra, Integrated, Tao"> <meta name="keyword" content=" Sex, Love, Spirit, Fogelita, sex, love, spirit, fogelita, Relationship seminars, Romance, Sexuality, Spirituality, Sacred Sex, Evolutionary Sexuality, Couples, Singles, Integral, Transformative, Practice, Being, multi-orgasmic, The power of pleasure, Creation, Manifestation, Better, sex, Romantic, Renewal, Sensory Awakening Adventure Full-body orgasm Human Potential Self-awareness Mystical Union, Meditation, Relationships, Personal, development, Sex, aging, Lifelong, Loving, Joy Steltzner, Nelson Olivera, Dating, Sexual, Healing, Integrated, tantra, Integrated, Tao"> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only tag above that should contain a list of keywords is the keyword meta tag. Otherwise, search engines may feel you are "slamming" or "cramming" keywords which will actually lower your chances of being seen in a search engine. This is an old technique that has not been widely accepted in at least 2.5 yrs. 1) Use the description tag for a desription of your site of 150 to 250 words. 2} Eliminate a lot of the keywords you have and then use "targeted" keywords for each page that are more relevant to the pages actual content. The REASON? Because Keywords are actually weighted less, especially if there is not enought written text content on the page to support them (or streghten their purpose). 3)Eliminate the duplicate keyword metatage entry and the " <meta name="document" content=" > " entry - not needed. 4)And Lastly, the page is missing one of the most highly weighted tags by all search engines: <title> Your Site's Title here - use one or two keywords </title> I hope this helps. As much as it is important to know how well your site will load - and it is very important other wise a viewer will not stay... What you don't see is most important. Cheers, MaineWebworks - Shelfimage-ga - |
