Hi, I live in France and would like to know the best thermal and acoustic insulation product for my attic. Specifically I am interested in two thin ?reflective? insulation products and how these compare to each other and how they compare to the benchmark 200mm of Rockwool insulation. The products are: i) Triso-super9 from Actis (http://be.actisisolation.com) and ii) Airflex from Kdb Isolations (http://www.kdb-isolation.com) I have samples of both reflective products and know the structure of each is quite different. I have some background in how these products work (eg by reflection) in contrast to traditional insulation (eg Rockwood) and understand that the traditional (standard) R value for rating insulation may not give ?fair? results when applied to reflective materials. I do NOT want more of this kind of information and do NOT want to read debates about the relevance of R values to reflective insulation. What I want to know is how do the THREE products (Trisosuper9, Airflex and 200mm rockwool (benchmark)) compare on: 1) (Important) Thermal insulation ? not just R values but realistic measures of how these products compare in normal house roofing situation. Specifically I want to know is there a real performance difference between the products ? is one a better insulator than the others? 2) (Important) Acoustic insulation - specifically for traffic noise. I CANNOT compare acoustic db ratings at different frequencies. I don?t even know the frequency of ?traffic noise?. Specifically I want to know is one product better at blocking traffic noise than another and how do they compare to benchmark 200mm Rockwool? 3) (Not so important) Price (per m squared in euro) ? does NOT have to be exact but roughly how do the products compare price wise? 4) (Not so important) Ease of installation ? specifically from people who have actually worked with the product ? not just a blar blar from the manufactures website. Are there any particular problems with either reflective product (eg is cutting the Airflex parallel to the heat sealed seams ? a problem?) I am aware that installing Rockwood is a nightmare. 5) Any other info relevant to favoring one product over the other. In summary I want to know which reflective product is best (ie thermal insulator) and whether one has better acoustic insulation against traffic noise compared to the other (and in general how these products compare to traditional 200mm Rockwool. I dont have so much time so dont want to read hundreds of links - consise info is better. Relivant information in French or English is ok. I have read the three results (French) comparing the 2 reflective products turned up by googling [triso super airflex] but did not find those particularly useful. Thanks in advance. |
